Sergio Garcia was disqualified at Southern Hills for signing an incorrect scorecard
Sergio Garcia signed an incorrect score card and left the scoring tent area after this third round of the 2007 USPGA and was therefore disqualified.
Sergio Garcia’s leading the Open for the first three rounds but missing a putt on the 18th hole of the last round of the 2007 British Open and losing the subsequent playoff will take some getting over.
An iron-clad case for Sergio Garcia improving his fitness in the style of Tiger Woods and thereby ensuring greater strength both mentally and physically so that his focus is razor sharp.
It must have hurt when Sergio discovered that not only must he maintain his focus on his own game during the heat of the day but he has to monitor his partner’s focus as well.
Sergio signed for par on the 17th instead of a bogey.
“It’s my fault for putting the wrong score in, but it’s his fault for not checking,” said partner Boo Weekley.
“I just said, ‘Sergio, I put a four but in fact you had a five.’ He said, ‘That just puts the icing on the cake.”‘
