Tiger Woods Design to do private Blue Ridge Mountains golf course in North Carolina
Tiger Woods has no plans to break the Jack Nicklaus record - for the number of golf courses, currently 258, bearing the Jack Nicklaus designed name - stating his current focus is on playing and appreciating the design features of the top golf courses in the world.
Tiger Woods, through his company Tiger Woods Design, said he will be happy designing one or two select golf courses at a time because of his crowded schedule as a player and a father.
Two days after winning the PGA 2007 Tiger Woods revealed plans for a private course in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, N.C. and it will be the first American course he will design.
Tiger Woods views himself as a minimalist designer who doesn’t expect to move a lot of dirt, likes a layout where the golfer can see the next hole ahead of them along with its well-placed bunkers that require careful shot selection, and in the case of The Cliffs Valley wants the scenic land to dictate the proposed layout so that golfers get a fair test while appreciating the beautiful landscape as they walk the course.
