Tiger Woods has won his 13th major at the USPGA - 5 to go for Jack Nicklaus Record
Tiger Woods kept his cool in the steamy conditions at South Hills in Oklahoma to see off a late charge by Woody Austin and Ernie Els and claim his 13th major the 2007 USPGA Championship.
Tiger’s win was founded on his field intimidating 63 for the second round that could have so easily have been the lowest score in major history when a birdie chance on the 18th unbelievably lipped out.
He was never headed in the final two rounds although Tiger look worried when a three-putt at the 14th in the final round brought the gap down to just one.
Some severe talking to himself and incredible focus in the heat saw him set up and drop a crucial 12 foot birdie on the 15th.
After that he was able to finish the round one under and eight under for the tournament ahead of Woody Austin two back after his final round 67 and Ernie Els three back after a charge of 66 in his final round.
A special moment for Tiger was having his wife Elin and daughter Sam there to surprise and greet him at the 18th and the scene of his latest major success. An event surely to be repeated in the future.
